Visual effects (VFX) are imagery created or manipulated for motion media that cannot be accomplished during live action shooting because it would be too expensive, dangerous, impractical, or impossible to capture. While the term VFX may bring to mind things such as space battles, "invisible" effects are used to make many productions possible and save money. Although most VFX work takes place during post-production,1 careful planning in pre-production and coordination during live production are frequently required.
